Equal incorporation of both parental bacteriophage T7 deoxyribonucleic acid strands into intracellular concatemeric deoxyribonucleic acid.

چکیده
After infection of Escherichia coli B with radiolabeled T7 bacteriophage, the parental deoxyribonucleic acid label was found in both polynucleotide chains of the intracellular T7 concatemer.

Intracellular inactivation of bacteriophage T4 early deoxyribonucleic acid.
As previously shown, a small amount of polynucleotide material is added to parental T4 deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) molecules within the first 5 min of infection. I have asked whether this process is essential for phage replication. Two approaches-one involving decay of (32)P incorporated into this "early DNA" and the other involving photoinactivation of bromodeoxyuridine-containing early DNA-in...
متن کاملRequirement of Protein Synthesis for Bacteriophage stX 174 Superinfection Exclusion
Within 5 to 10 min at 37 C, bacteria infected by bacteriophage OX174 acquire the ability to exclude superinfecting OX particles from reproducing themselves. The superinfecting phage are blocked at a stage prior to synthesis of the parental replicative form molecule; the superinfecting deoxyribonucleic acid remains as intact (infective) single strands. Establishment of superinfection exclusion a...
متن کاملMechanism of action of cinodine, a glycocinnamoylspermidine antibiotic.
The mechanism of action of cinodine, a glycocinnamoylspermidine antibiotic, was investigated. Upon addition of cinodine to growing cultures of Escherichia coli, a rapid decline in viable cell numbers was observed. Culture turbidity continued to increase for a short period before plateauing. Microscopic examination indicated that the antibiotic-treated cells continued to elongate with subsequent...
متن کاملSeparation of T-even bacteriophage deoxyribonucleic acid from host deoxyribonucleic acid by hydroxyapatite chromatography.
A simple and rapid method is described for separation of T-even bacteriophage deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) from host (Escherichia coli) DNA by hydroxyapatite column chromatography with a shallow gradient of phosphate buffer at neutral pH. By this method, bacteriophage T2, T4, and T6 DNA (but not T5, T7, or lambda DNA) could be separated from host E. coli DNA. It was found that glucosylation of t...
متن کاملEffect of Helium-Neon Laser and Sodium Hypochlorite on Calf Thymus Double-Stranded Deoxyribonucleic Acid Molecule: An in Vitro Experimental Study
Introduction: Low-energy helium-neon (He-Ne) laser beam lightis used in combination with sodium hypochlorite (Na2HOCl3) for clinical purposes. Regarding this, the present study aimed to investigate the effect of He-Ne laser (632.8 nm) and sodium hypochlorite on the calf thymus double-stranded deoxyribonucleic acid (ctdsDNA) molecule. Materials and Methods: For the purpose of the study, ctdsDNA...
